Protecting your personal data matters to us. This privacy policy explains how personal data is processed in connection with the StoryAlive website and services.
1. Data controller
The data controller is:
DIGITALE WELT GmbH
Christof Hunziker
Rue de l’Hôpital 36
3280 Meyriez
Switzerland
StoryAlive is a service of DIGITALE WELT GmbH.
2. Scope
This privacy policy applies to the StoryAlive website and to use of the StoryAlive platform and the Experiences provided through it.
StoryAlive enables businesses, organisations and educational institutions to provide interactive AI-powered Experiences.
Depending on the Experience, DIGITALE WELT GmbH may itself be the data controller or may process personal data on behalf of a StoryAlive customer.
Where a StoryAlive customer is responsible for particular processing, that customer’s privacy provisions also apply.
3. Visiting our website
When you visit our website, technically necessary information may be processed, including in particular:
- IP address;
- date and time of access;
- pages and resources accessed;
- browser and device information;
- technical log and error data.
This data is used in particular to provide the website, ensure its security and stability and analyse technical errors.
4. Using a StoryAlive Experience
When using a StoryAlive Experience, the following data may be processed in particular, depending on its design:
- text or voice input;
- conversation and interaction content;
- Experience and touchpoints used;
- language settings;
- technical session and usage information;
- feedback;
- contextual information required to respond to an enquiry.
This data is used to provide the Experience, answer questions, enable dialogues and ensure the platform’s quality, security and functionality.
The specific information processed depends on the Experience and its configuration.
5. Artificial intelligence and speech services
StoryAlive uses artificial intelligence services to understand input and generate responses.
For this purpose, input and the contextual and knowledge information needed to respond may be transmitted to specialist AI providers and technically processed by them.
Experiences with voice input or speech output may also use corresponding speech services.
StoryAlive endeavours to transmit to such services only the information needed for the relevant function.
Despite careful configuration, AI-generated responses may be incomplete or incorrect. Further information on using StoryAlive can be found in our General Terms and Conditions.
6. User accounts and customer area
Certain areas of StoryAlive, particularly customer dashboards and administration and management functions, require a user account.
The following data may be processed in particular:
- name;
- email address;
- user identifier;
- customer or organisation affiliation;
- roles and permissions;
- login and security-related information.
StoryAlive uses a specialist identity service for authentication.
Authentication serves in particular to sign users in securely and control access to customer-specific areas and data.
7. Knowledge and customer-provided content
StoryAlive enables customers to provide knowledge and content for their Experiences.
These may include in particular:
- documents;
- texts and descriptions;
- website content;
- products and services;
- interview responses;
- structured knowledge entries;
- other information provided by the customer.
This information is used to build and structure an Experience’s knowledge and make it available for AI-powered dialogues.
The customer decides which information is provided and approved for their Experience.
8. Integrations and connected systems
Depending on the Experience, StoryAlive may be connected to external systems and data sources.
Data may, for example, be read from business, appointment, support, product or other specialist systems or, where expressly provided for, transmitted to such systems.
The data processed and actions available depend on the integration and the agreement with the customer.
9. Processing on behalf of customers
For certain StoryAlive Experiences, DIGITALE WELT GmbH processes personal data on behalf of a customer.
In this case, the customer generally determines the purpose and scope of the processing and is responsible for its lawfulness.
Where required by the specific processing, DIGITALE WELT GmbH and the customer enter into a supplementary data processing agreement.
StoryAlive may in turn use suitable service providers for the technical provision of the platform.
10. Hosting and technical service providers
The StoryAlive platform and its database are hosted in Switzerland.
Separately, we use external technical services, particularly for authentication and AI and speech functions. These providers may process data as part of their respective services.
We select our service providers with reasonable care and, where necessary, take contractual and organisational measures to protect the data processed.
Depending on the provider, these external technical services may process data outside Switzerland. In such cases, we pay attention to the requirements and safeguards prescribed by applicable data protection law.
11. Usage analytics and improvement
StoryAlive may analyse technical usage and interaction data to:
- understand how Experiences are used and function;
- identify technical problems;
- improve quality and usability;
- provide customers with corresponding analyses and dashboards.
We seek to limit the processing of personal data to what is necessary for the relevant purpose.
12. Contacting us
When you contact us by email, contact form or otherwise, we process the information you provide to handle your enquiry and for further communication.
This data is retained only as long as required to handle the enquiry, maintain the business relationship or meet statutory obligations.
13. Retention period
Personal data is generally retained only for as long as required for its purpose or by statutory retention obligations.
After a StoryAlive contract ends, customer-specific data, content, knowledge and configurations are generally retained for 30 days .
A longer retention period may be agreed with the customer, for example where subsequent reactivation or reuse of the Experience is planned.
The data may then be deleted or anonymised unless statutory or other legitimate grounds require continued retention.
14. Data security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access and other risks.
Our security measures are developed in line with technical progress and the requirements of the StoryAlive platform.
However, completely risk-free data transmission or processing cannot be guaranteed.
15. Rights of data subjects
Under applicable data protection law, data subjects may in particular request information about the processing of their personal data and, where applicable, request rectification or erasure.
For data processed by StoryAlive on behalf of a customer, it may be necessary to direct the request to the responsible StoryAlive customer.
Requests may be addressed to DIGITALE WELT GmbH: christof@digitalewelt.ch.
16. Changes to this privacy policy

This privacy policy may therefore be updated if our services, technologies or legal requirements change.
